This hand-drawn poster captures Medawar 479, known as The Blue House, one of Beirut's distinctive heritage buildings. Originally built as a private Beiruti residential house, its three floors were used for residential purposes until the late 20th century. Its bright blue façade, traditional Beiruti architecture, and location near the port made it a recognizable part of the city.

Then came August 4, 2020.

The Beirut Port explosion caused major structural damage to the Blue House because of its extreme proximity to the blast. Yet the building was not forgotten. Its restoration became part of the wider effort to protect Beirut's architectural heritage. Restoration began in November 2021 and was completed in August 2022, with the support of the Honor Frost Foundation and the Beirut Heritage Initiative.

Today, the Blue House has a new chapter. The Honor Frost Foundation uses it as its base in Lebanon, connecting this historic Beiruti building with the preservation and study of Lebanon's maritime heritage.

More than a blue house: For many people, the Blue House has come to represent something larger than architecture.
